Brazil is included in the group of 17 megadiverse countries, holding around 15 to 20% of the entire biodiversity of the planet. This number, combined with local traditional knowledge with respect to the use of elements of biodiversity implies an immeasurable potential for business opportunities in the area of biotechnology, - which brings together techniques that allow the use of living beings or parts of living beings, modified or not, in the generation of new products and processes for specific purposes.
Brazil establishes rules for access to its genetic resources (RG) and associated traditional knowledge (CTA), as well as for the sharing of benefits arising from their economic exploitation through Federal Law No. 13,123/2015, of Decree No. 8,772/2016 and the Regulations of CGEN (Genetic Heritage Management Council).
Kasznar Leonardos, with its multidisciplinary team, offers technical and legal assistance for the intellectual protection of inventions derived from access to RG and CTA, as well as, in the event of lawsuits, procedural action and monitoring at all instances.
