GABRIEL LEONARDOS

Senior partner at Kasznar Leonardos

Recognized as Band 1 in Intellectual Property in Brazil by the leading international legal directories — Chambers Global, Chambers Latin America, and Chambers Brazil — continuously from 2014 to 2026, Gabriel Leonardos is a lawyer and senior partner at Kasznar Leonardos, as well as a registered Industrial Property Agent. With a career marked by institutional leadership and strategic vision, he served as Federal and Regional Counsel of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) and presided over the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI) from 2022 to 2025, representing the entity on multiple occasions before the Chamber of Deputies, the Federal Senate, and the USTR in Washington, DC.

His professional reach extends beyond legal practice to the strengthening of institutional and international relations. A former President of the Brazil–Germany Chamber of Commerce in Rio de Janeiro (2006–2009) and current Honorary President of the institution, his contributions were recognized by the German government with the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesverdienstkreuz), awarded in 2015 in recognition of his dedication to fostering cultural and economic ties between Brazil and Germany.

Leonardos also served as Vice President of ABAPI for two terms (1996–2001 and 2006–2013) and was a member of the INTA and ASIPI Panels of Mediators, in addition to serving on the ASIPI Ethics Tribunal. In academia, he is the author of the reference work “Taxation of Technology Transfer” (Editora Forense), widely regarded as a classic in the field.

Maria Pia Guerra is a Partner and Attorney at Law at Kasznar Leonardos, where she leads IB, the firm’s Latin America Hub. IB was designed to offer clients a seamless and efficient way to navigate IP matters across the region.

Her international career began soon after graduation, when she joined the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva as a legal consultant. Over four years, she worked closely with the Madrid System for the International Registration of Trademarks and the Hague System for Industrial Designs, contributing to key global IP initiatives.

To deepen her expertise, Maria Pia earned a Master’s in European and International Commercial Law from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. After returning to Brazil, she established and successfully managed the Brazilian office of a well-known European firm for ten years.

Maria Pia is consistently recognized by prominent international legal directories, including World Trademark Review 1000, Best Lawyers, Leaders League, and IP Stars, reflecting her strong reputation in the IP field. She participates annually in major global IP associations and events such as INTA, AIPPI, TMAP, and APAA.
