Kasznar Leonardos provides an overview of Data Protection in Brazil’s Best Counsel 2024

We are pleased to announce that our partner Claudio Barbosa and attorney at law Larissa Ferreira Martins took part of the publication “Brazil’s Best Counsel 2024” by Leaders League Brasil.

They’ve authored the Chapter Opening for the Data Protection chapter, providing an overview of the Brazilian Data Protection Law, known as “LGPD”. In September, it marks four years since its implementation. Claudio and Larissa discuss the implications of the law, which has revolutionized Data Protection and processing in Brazil.

The authors analyze how the LGPD and the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) regulate and ensure compliance for data privacy and security, highlighting the needs of legal bases for data processing and the enforcement of penalties for violations.

The LGPD has encouraged companies to adopt improved and careful information security practices, protecting individuals’ data and ensuring effective responses to security incidents.
