Brazilian Senate rejects the postponement of the LGPD

It has been two years since the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD) was enacted. Such law will enable greater control by Brazilians over their personal data, as well as have considerable impact over individuals’ and companies’ routines. Therefore, the correct date of its entry into force is a relevant issue.

Last Wednesday (26) a controversy in the Brazilian Congress, between the Senate and the House of Representatives, caused the anticipation of the date in which the LDPD would enter into force, which was supposed to be December 2020.
