1 Million Counterfeit Products Seized in Major Brazilian Enforcement Operation
More than 1 million counterfeit electronic products were seized in a single enforcement operation supported by the strategic work of Kasznar Leonardos’ Anti-Piracy & Brand Protection Department. The operation uncovered a six-story warehouse located outside São Paulo’s traditional commercial and logistics areas and used for the large-scale storage of products intended for the Brazilian market.
The result underscores an increasingly important challenge for rights holders. Counterfeiting operations are becoming more sophisticated, with storage and distribution structures designed to make illicit activities more difficult to identify and disrupt. In this environment, isolated enforcement measures are not enough. Effective brand protection requires actionable intelligence, investigative capabilities, and close coordination with public authorities to identify meaningful targets and translate evidence into concrete enforcement action.
That approach was at the core of Kasznar Leonardos’ work in this matter. Our Anti-Piracy & Brand Protection team conducted market mapping, provided logistical support, and worked closely with the relevant authorities throughout the planning and execution of the operation, including on-site support during the enforcement action.
The scale of the seizure demonstrates the impact of this coordinated approach. In addition to preventing more than 1 million counterfeit products from reaching consumers, the seized electronic products lacked the regulatory approvals and certifications required for lawful distribution. The operation therefore went beyond the protection of intellectual property rights, helping mitigate risks to consumers as well as potential harm to the brand’s reputation and legitimate distribution channels.
The case reinforces a principle that guides our practice: high-impact anti-counterfeiting enforcement requires a combination of market intelligence, investigation, legal strategy, operational planning, and effective coordination with public authorities.
If your company is facing counterfeiting issues in Brazil, or would like to better understand its exposure to these risks, the specialists in Kasznar Leonardos’ Anti-Piracy & Brand Protection Department would be pleased to discuss your concerns. Our team can assess the current landscape, identify enforcement priorities, and develop a strategy aligned with the protection of your assets and your broader business objectives.
