Kasznar Leonardos takes part in the seventh phase of Operation 404 alongside national and international agencies
On September 19, 2024, the Departament of Justice and Public Security, through Ciberlab, led by Chief of Police Alesandro Gonçalves Barreto, launched the seventh phase of Operation 404, one of the largest initiatives against digital piracy in Brazil. The operation, which involved both national and international authorities, resulted in the blocking of 675 websites and 14 illegal streaming apps, as well as the removal of social media profiles and pages used for distributing pirated content.
Search and seizure warrants were executed in Brazil and other South American countries, and five arrests were made as part of efforts to combat copyright infringement on the internet. The operation was a partnership between Brazil, the USA, Paraguay, Peru, Argentina, and the United Kingdom in addition to police and intelligence agencies from various Brazilian states.
The Operation 404 included the participation of international Intellectual Property protection institutions and private sector associations, working together to block and deactivate websites and apps that violated IP rights. Kasznar Leonardos’ Antipiracy team, led by partner Rafael Lacaz and by associate Raquel Barros , played an essential role in providing legal support to the operation.
The operation reinforces our commitment to Intellectual Property protection. Together with Brazilian and international authorities, Kasznar Leonardos promotes a safe digital environment that protects both copyright holders and consumers.
