Raquel Barros Appointed Member of the National Council for Combating Piracy

Linked to Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the CNCP is the country’s leading body responsible for proposing, coordinating, and monitoring public policies aimed at combating piracy, counterfeiting, and intellectual property crimes, fostering collaboration among government, the private sector, and civil society.

This appointment recognizes Raquel’s distinguished career and expertise in brand protection, anti-piracy enforcement, and the defense of intellectual property rights. Read her statement below:

“ABPI’s appointment as a member of the National Council for Combating Piracy represents far more than simply holding a seat on a government council. It is an opportunity to contribute directly to the development of public policies that shape the fight against piracy, counterfeiting, and illegal markets in Brazil, while placing the association’s technical expertise, along with that of its Committee for the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights, in service of a public-interest agenda involving the protection of innovation, consumer safety, economic development, fair competition, and the strengthening of the rule of law. For me, in my capacity as Deputy Chair of the Committee for the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights, it was a great honor to contribute to the process that culminated in ABPI’s appointment.”
