Suspension of official deadlines and Kasznar Leonardos business continuity plan

Given the increasing development of the Coronavirus in Brazil, our firm has decided to adopt stricter measures to protect our people, their families and the community.
As of Wednesday, March 18th, our staff is working from home and our offices in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo will be open for critical minimum operations. This measure will be in force for the next 15 days and may be extended as the situation develops.
We can assure you that our operations remain uninterrupted and our team is working as usual, doing their utmost to keep a high standard service to your business needs.
Below are some important information on the recent changes on BPTO – Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office – and Brazilian Courts operations:
• The BPTO has published yesterday the notice that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, and to the user’s restrictions, all the deadlines will be suspended from March 16th to April 14th. Face-to-face meetings with the BPTO’s examiners and employees are also suspended, and any questions and/or clarifications must be submitted by us electronically;
• As for pending law-suits, Brazilian Courts have been enacting different provisions and it is expected that the National Council of Justice (the country’s higher body governing the management of the Courts) shall soon issue a unifying rule applicable to all Courts. The trend is that all or some of judicial deadlines are being suspended, but you may rest assured that our litigation team is on top of the matter so that no deadline be missed and our clients’ interests be adequately protected.

We will be constantly monitoring the situation and keep you posted on any major changes.
Meanwhile, should you need any further information, please write to mail@kasznarleonardos.com or to your usual person of contact. You can also reach to our offices on the usual numbers, as below:
