Updates on procedures for ownership transfers and amendments to patent holder informations

Updates on procedures for transferring ownership and changing the name/company name, address/headquarters, and security interest or pledge of patent holders of any nature have been released, as set out in articles 58, 59, and 60 of the Industrial Property Law – Law No. 9,279 of May 14, 1996 (LPI).

According to Ordinance No. 20 of the BPTO Patent Board, as of October 13, 2024, 30 days after the date of its publication in the RPI, some changes to the procedures for patent recordals will come into effect.
