BPTO published Ordinance which establishes a new schedule of official fees

The Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO) has published Ordinance INPI/PR No. 10/2025, which establishes a new schedule of official fees. This marks the first revision of BPTO fees since 2012 and will take effect for various services starting August 7, 2025. The new ordinance also introduces additional services and procedures, which will be detailed in due course.

It is important to note that the costs associated with patent, trademark, and industrial design services in Brazil will be significantly impacted. Official fees for procedures such as patent filings, examinations, annuities, and granting taxes —as well as trademark applications, oppositions, appeals, and industrial design renewals—have been increased by up to 50%.

In light of this substantial adjustment, we strongly recommend that clients consider anticipating their instructions for any actions with deadlines falling after August 7, 2025. This proactive approach may help avoid the increased costs under the new fee schedule.
